An Updated Employment Status!

Remember, The Caitiff is free on Amazon until the 27th, so if you haven’t grabbed a copy and you like perspective-centric, North-West England-based, contemporary literary fiction with tints of political, dystopian and existentialist fiction, you should shimmy over there and pick it up!

You can grab it here if you’re in the US, or here if you’re in the UK.

Over the past few days I have been gripped by a kind of writing fanaticism; as a result my short story/novella The Burden is already up to a little over ten thousand words and the main plot points are already, well, plotted out, I’ve got a few more bits of crappy poetry to throw on here, a couple of Ramblings On… and I’ve made some progress with the starting point of the next instalment in my Broken Polemic series – y’know the one, that weird and wonderful, experimental, rambling existentialist nonsensical series that I wrote whilst at University and released soon after I left?

Also, I’ve had another story fluttering around in my head, very thematically similar to The Caitiff but a little more cheery – when I eventually get around to starting it, I hope to keep it a little easier to read than The Caitiff is. Not that I don’t think the Caitiff is good, far from it, but I know that a lot of the choices I made; the use of language, the style of voice the character employs, even the complicated and, at times, technically incorrect grammar, demands quite a high reading level.

I don’t know why it’s so much easier to read text as an eBook than on a word document – maybe it’s the knowledge that it is unchangeable whilst in front of you, whilst a document is malleable, that just makes you concentrate all the harder. Or maybe that’s just me!

Quite oddly, I have been offered a job and I’m going to accept it – I enjoyed my time there when I was an apprentice, so I’d be an idiot to give this opportunity a miss – unfortunately, that means that I will probably have less time to dedicate to my personal writing but that’s the way the world works, I suppose, or the way that time works anyway.
Of course, the last time I worked at this place I was writing two or three short things a day, on my dinner hour and break and so on, so it’s possible that the amount I have to put on here will actually increase – we can only hope, eh?

And also, no, I don’t think the title of this update is overly clunky at all – I dunno what you’re talkin’ ’bout.
